AVG 2011 PC Analyzer

Postby cyberdyne » Thu Sep 30, 2010 5:19 am

AVG 2011 PC Analyzer says there are 519 errors in my registry despite CCleaner and TuneUp Utilities saying there are none, so I am a little hesitant to run it.

Other than manually creating a System Restore point how will AVG backup these entries prior to running the cleaner?

Thanks

Ah! Never mind.

Having made backups I decided to run it. It appears analyzer is NOT part of my paid for product and in fact would cost me $29.99 per year to use.

So, I have paid for AVG Internet Security and AVG are now advertising a product I do not have a license for on my paid product.

Therefore, how do I completely remove the PC Analyzer section from my AVG Internet Security please??

Thank you.

Re-install custom and de-select it.

I have both used the uninstaller file to try and add/remove features AND I've uninstalled it completely then reinstalled it and an option to not install PC Analyzer is not available.

Does anyone have any info on removing this unwanted product from my purchased software please? I know I'm not the only one who's not particularly happy having it there.

Thank you.

How about posting a screenshot of your primary AVG interface, so I can see what you see?

No problem, although of course this doesn't show the install stage where the option to not install is not present. Missing components such as Email Scanner not chosen at install stage.

Additionally, since there clearly seems to be a little doubt, here's my registration screen:

Finally, here's a screen shot of the Add/Remove/Change Features screen showing no option for PC Analyzer.

I wasn't doubting you, but I know that the trial and Free versions of AVG have this option, and when I put in a valid AVG IS Business Edition key PC Analyzer goes away. However, I contacted AVG and they said that the feature to manually de-select PC Analyzer was missing from this build but will be in the next one.

Ok well that's something I guess. I did contact Support myself but they've not replied.
Thanks for your help.

Well now, that's what I call a confusing answer from AVG Support.

We would like to inform you that there is no product provided by AVG Technologies by the name of "PC Analyzer". AVG offers a product named "AVG PC Tuneup 2011" which is not a part of the standard Internet Security package which you have purchased.

I think a little C.S. product familiarisation and/or retraining might be in order.

And yet another contracdictory reply from AVG 'support':

Dear customer,

Thank you for your email.

PC Analyser is an integral part of AVG 2011

It isn't possible to remove this component..

Finally, here's a screen shot of the Add/Remove/Change Features screen showing no option for PC Analyzer.

I did a little "looking" into your issue, but I've only had AVG 10.0 FREE for a day so I haven't yet experienced the difficulty you are having (yes, probably the same version you have). I agree w/ you about these supposed errors cause I also use Defraggler and Diskeeper and neither of those show any errors, but AVG showed allegedly 243 registry errors :? and zero fragmentation

This may help:

(1) Open up AVG (2) Go to tools and click "Advanced settings" (3) In the left column click "Ignore Faulty conditions" (4) Select/Check the box for PC Analyzer (5) Click APPLY at bottom

Good luck, but I may be back here just like you after having this 10.0 version for a few days/weeks
