Please add "Unknown Error" to list

Postby nousndthem » Mon Oct 17, 2011 11:20 pm

Please add "Unknown Error" to ignore error status list.

"unknown error" has been plaguing me for days now.
Even after a clean uninstall and re install on Windows 7 64bit.

Thank you!

Can you post a screen shot, or any more information?

Repair install done.

If you don't hear from me then assume it's fixed.

Thank you,

No good.

Error message still persists.

Average seems to be 6 or so times a day.

Try running Hitman Pro and Malwarebytes (Linked below in my sig under Other Tools) and see if they find anything.

both hitman and MBAM report no problems other than a few cookies hitman seemed to make note of.

Try running a chkdsk on your drive, then run another AVG Repair: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265

Well the next step would be to submit log files for analysis, and troubleshoot your machine by disabling other programs that might conflict - especially other security applications. You may want to consider purchasing a license so you can get support from AVG directly.

I have no other security programs, my PC is turned to perfection, i.e. other than having AVG unable to determine what it's unspecified problem is.
Everything in msconfig is disabled other than necessary system functions.
Event Logs ( both system and application ) show no errors of any kind.

All I was hoping for is to add "Unspecified Error" to the ignore errors list in
Tools > Advanced .. > Ignore error status.

Let's just call the case closed.

If it starts to bother me too much I'll switch to Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thanks for trying.

No problem. I'm glad you understand how difficult it would be to proceed further in this format. It sounds like you've already done all of the things I'd suggest, anyway. AVG support would have you run a few of their diagnostic utilities and send them the logs files it generated. Then they would be able to determine exactly what the error was and help you resolve it. I don't have access to those utilities, but you can always try AVG's official AVG Free support forum: http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-forums
