virus win32/NSAnti

Postby amangupta03 » Sun Jul 25, 2010 7:26 am

Dear Moderator,
I am using AVG Professional version 8.5.441on windows 7 os in hp pavilion dv6 notebook. Recently the virus scan results show 10 infections with win32/NSAnti. AVG is unable to heal these infections nor am I able to remove unhealed infections or move them to virus vault because, i get the message that the file size is larger than the archive size limit and prompts me to either 'go to file' or 'ignore' . Please help!!

Which file is too large, and what's it called? What's the files location?

The Infected files are C:/SWSetup/MSDVD/data1.cab; C:\SWSetup\MSDVD\Data1.cab:\_45E77D299124099D1CDDD7712C668599; C:\SWSetup\sp47025\HPMSDVD_3.1.2.3719_ALL_APP_W7_WW-01\hp\tmp\src\Data1.cab; and C:\SWSetup\sp47025\HPMSDVD_3.1.2.3719_ALL_APP_W7_WW-01\hp\tmp\src\Data1.cab:\_20CCE189939147ABB714EEFAFC94B527. They are about 60 mb each. I am not sure but I think they are drivers setup files.

Did you try clearing your Virus Vault? Open AVG>History>Virus Vault. Then scan again.

Bump this topic, I'm having the exact same problem within the same folder (compressed files in C:\SWsetup\MSDVD\Data1.cab and files in that folder). I've SEARCHED everywhere for a solution to this - many people claim it is a false positive and others still recommend copious amounts of anti-virus programs to delete it, which is ridiculous. I just want to get rid of this 'virus', I don't want/need to download 15 programs, so let's find another solution. Some people delete the file manually in command prompt, which I tried but I still receive the 'access is denied' or 'file not found' notification.

What is more perplexing is that AVG finds the virus, can tell when I move it to the desktop to try and extract the file and/or attempt to open it in notepad (in fact, it won't even let me do so) but it can't get rid of it? I've emailed virus@avg.com and requested help but to no avail. On top of all of this, spybot does not find the virus and avg tells me I am protected. Excuse the frustration but I consider myself very computer savvy and this 'virus' has me running in circles. Let me know if you want a hijackthis file attached or something but PLEASE help.

Try deleting it in the command prompt in Safe Mode, if you're sure you don't need it.

Even in Safe Mode? If so, you may want to try cleaning with a boot cd:
