Firewall and Google Chrome

Postby mikepixel » Tue Feb 24, 2009 8:50 am

I am trying out your AVG Internet Security and I am having a bit of trouble with the Firewall.

I accidentally blocked Google Chrome and now I can NOT get it unblocked. I am now having to turn off my firewall when using Google Chrome. I also did NOT check the save this for future box when I blocked Chrome, so I was hoping I would be asked again when Chrome came up.

Even when I configure the Firewall, Google Chrome does not come up as an application to add. Sort of frustrating.

Thanks for any help,

Try un-installing AVG and make sure you check the box to Remove Personal Settings when you do. Then re-install with the latest version from www.avg.com/download.

I will try it, but it seems like a lot of time just to get this to work. There has to be some way to improve this or people just won't run AVG Internet Security.

I assume the free version of AVG doesn't have a firewall. I might end up switching to that, but I did like the idea of having all the protection. It just disheartens me to think that everytime I have a firewall issue, the best way to deal with it is to uninstall and reinstall AVG.

Is there a way to delete personal settings without reinstalling.

Thanks for your very quick answer.

Re-installing takes 10 minutes, including reboots. Finding the option would take longer, though there certainly is a way to resolve your issue without re-installing.

I will make the time to reinstall later today. For now I am going to rely on my windows firewall and turn off AVG's firewall.

Thanks for your input.
