Hi there. First post so please be don't be too quick to condemn stupidity!!??
I am an old time user of AVG, since it first came out. I have always trusted the default installation option to get it right. However, twice now (senility? I should have learnt first time!) I have been left at risk as an Outlook Express user and it took me a while to realise that my emails weren't being scanned.
The default setup configures AVG9 to monitor Outlook, not O.Express. This means I have to re-install and remember to choose "Custom Install" after realising that mail is not checked.
I suggest it would be a good thing to include a dialogue box to ask new (and experienced (?)) users which email client(s) they use without having to choose the Custom Install option. In fact I think it is unlikely to occur to some (many?) users that they would need to choose to install this way if they use anything other than MS Outlook. Some might not even spot their emails arriving in their InBox unscanned. Quite a risk! Also, maybe loosing you guys some business when users abandon AVG because of a virus getting in on the back of an email???
Maybe there should be an option to change email client from within (say) the advanced options under Tools menu. Surely many of us change, or run more than one, email client (one for the kids, one for grown-ups?). Other than that I think AVG Free is a great product!!!! Never let me down before!
