after virus.

Postby rinfrance » Tue Sep 02, 2008 7:59 am

We have a laptop that someone played with. The virus it got was not picked up by AVG and others, it was a Trojan -Downloader.agent. I have with difficulty gotten it all out but it has left, or there is something else that is stopping going on to many sites. And yes I have done everything to the IE security etc. well at least I think I have!! The Hijack this file is enclosed and I know that the wanadoo-recherche should not be there but I cannot delete it.
The log is attached:-

Hi,
I am Sandy Rochard well i gone through your post.I understand your problem well update your antiviruse or not because without update some of the function work perfectly of the antiviruse.Second thing if not working just remove your antiviruse install another antiviruse or the same if it not successfully remove. The last option you have to format your Hardisk.
Thanks

I would advise running a full scan from Safe Mode. If that doesn't pick anything up, you may need to use a boot CD with anti-virus software installed on it to scan.

Another option is to also install Malwarebytes and run a scan with that program. It may pick up what is left over and remove it for you.

I usually use this in conjunction with AVG together.

I second the comment about Malwarebytes. Another good one is Superantispyware, what one does not catch the other does! . They seem to work well with AVG (No conflicts )
I once tried one called "Spyware Terminator", Oh god never again!
